Sun, Slides and Family

Wow, what a day!  I got an early start this morning and had a chance to head out for a run along some beautiful trails that is close to Doug and Beth's house.  Tanya went for a run later and then we got ready to head to Calypso Water Park.   All day we heard on the loud speakers that this is the largest water theme park in Canada.

It was a beautiful sunny day and the kids were looking forward to a day of sliding down the slides.  They are pros at the water parks as our neighbors and good friends own Magic Mountain and Shining Waters and they are very generous in allowing us to visit the parks frequently.  Since school was in the crowds weren't very large and the waits to ride the slides were minimal.  The kids all had their favourite rides and got to ride them often.   When we left the park at 3:45 pm the thermostat in the van was showing 35 C and I can believe it.  It was a hot day and the water was very refreshing.

One cute story was when we were getting to the end of the day and Andrea wasn't keen on a ride called the Zoomerang but decided to go on it with me one more time.  It was a two person flume and she looked down at her mother who was way to far away to hear her and yelled "you better get a good picture because this is the last time I'm riding this."

After we got back from Calypso, my cousin Mike and his wife Jodie invited us and two of his siblings (Mark and Beth) and their families over for a barbecue.  They were wonderful hosts and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome.  They have a beautiful back yard pool which the kids enjoyed immensely and they spent the evening playing with their 3rd cousins.

When we got home, the kids were quick to get to bed and were asleep in a matter of seconds.  Nothing like lots of fun, sun and fresh air to wear out the kids.  Tomorrow we hope to visit downtown Ottawa and spend some time on Parliament Hill.

Good Night,
Francois
