First Tune Up Required

We got up this morning and got on the road for another day through the remaining parts of Northern Ontario.  About 30 minutes outside of Thunder Bay the van started to make some funny noises that sounded like a wheel bearing problem.  A little later we thought it was something in the engine which made us a little nervous because there are long stretches without any civilization.

We found a small garage, similar to Melvin's garage (Tanya's Dads) where a mechanic took a look but said he wasn't sure what it was and really wasn't able to help us.  He said there is a community about an hour down the road where you would get the same response that I'm giving so your best bet is to try and get to Dryden.  Off we went and slowly but surely arrived in Dryden where there was a GM dealership.  They checked it over and said that we required a rear wheel drum and a few other things.  We were also told that a squirrel (or some animal) had built a nest in our engine bonnet and that may have helped with the noise we were hearing.  We're not sure if our "pet" built the nest back in PEI or if he was good friends with the raccoon who ate our breakfast but nonetheless a nest was found.

We are hunkered down in the Dryden Library, reading books and the local newspapers and waiting for the repairs to be made.  Natalie is in heaven as she is sitting on big comfy pillow with a stack of books as high as she is.  We figure this will be the first of a few tune-ups on while we are traveling and we are happy that we were able to get to a service area and the folks at the Dryden GM dealership have been very accommodating.

Not sure if we'll get out of Dryden tonight of if we'll have to stay here this evening because they said it would take a few hours to do the work.

We'll keep you posted.
