Ball, Pool, Fashion

Ready at 3rd base
We got an early start this morning as my nephew Justin had a baseball game in Whitby and we were all going to watch.  He plays for the Markham Mariners and his dad, my brother, is the assistant coach.  It was a hot humid day and there wasn't much protection from the sun at the ballpark.  Justin's team played very well but came up short against a very good team.  The ball is pitched by a pitching machine and they play seven innings.  Justin hit a couple of triples and made a few good plays in the field.

We came back to the house for some lunch and then we divided and went in different directions.  Michel and I took the kids to their friends pool again to play around for the afternoon.  My dad and Tanya went to the mall to do a bit of shopping and Jennifer stayed at home to do a bit of work around the house and get ready for supper.

Tanya managed to find a few more things to purchase at the mall while Michel and I had lots of fun with the kids splashing in the water.  They particularly enjoyed the two of us launching them high in the air and landing in the water.  While we were out playing, my sister in law Jennifer was home setting up the house for the group birthday party.  Since we don't see each other that often and certainly not on birthdays, Tanya and Jen decided to celebrate all the kids parties together at once instead of sending presents back and forth.

When we arrived back home, there were streamers hung from the ceiling and balloons floating around everywhere.  It was quite the gala affair, the fancy dishes were brought out and we even sat in the dining room which Justin tells us is only used on very special occasions.  Did we ever feel special.

Supper was a wonderful steak dinner with all the fixings.  It was absolutely delicious and despite being quite full, we all were able to eat a piece of birthday cake for dessert.  The kids were excited with the presents that they opened and each of them got a few new clothing items for their collection.  David also got some new hockey cards which pleased him greatly.

After supper Auntie Jen took the four kids upstairs to get them ready for a fashion show to display some of their new clothing.  The girls were made up and had their hair done while the boys got a few tattoos before getting on their outfits.  Justin was the emcee and announced each of the "models" and what they were wearing as they came out and worked the runway.

The kids went downstairs for a movie night (Finding Nemo) while the adults sat around upstairs and chatted.  We stopped the movie halfway through and got the kids to bed as we have to get up early for church.  We will then head into Toronto to visit Tanya's university friend Kathy and then we will be heading to Jen's parents place for supper.

Happy Birthday goes out to my friend Andrew Dennis, whose birthday is tomorrow.  I had a chance to speak with him tonight on the phone and it is always great to hear how things are going at home.

Later,
