Water Park Fun!

Cherry Hill Park with a wonderful
view of the mountains
Today the weather forecast was for another scorcher of a day and we decided to travel a short distance to Kaysville, Utah where there was a water park, Cherry Hill Park.  The drive was roughly 20 minutes on the freeway from Salt Lake City to the water park.  We arrived shortly after 10 and joined the people in the line-up because it didn't open until 10:30.

Andrea coming down Canyon Creek
The park had a package deal where you could purchase admission to the water park and then have the option for an additional $5 for admission to the mini golf, batting cages, aero game and the hamster cage.  We thought this would be the best option for us.

Francois enjoyed Canyon Creek too
There were few people in the park when we finally got in - so we found a good shaded area and set up our stuff for the day.  The water park was great, although Natalie said it needed a few more water slides.  The Canyon Creek was a big hit with the kids - you go down in tubes and sometimes get stuck in the process.  It was great in the morning because the line-ups were short, but as the day proceeded the line-ups got pretty long.  The kids didn't seem to mind waiting in the line-ups though.

David on the Lazy River
They loved the lazy river and I did too.  You didn't need to have a tube, you could just swim or walk along and let the current push you along.  Sometimes the river was packed and sometimes there was lots of room to swim.

David with the pirate ship
David loved the big pirate ship - he loved to sit at the top of the ship and use the big wheel to steer it.  He  has started to listen to the Pirates of Caribbean audio book and is fascinated with Jack Sparrow.  He tells me his favorite part of the book is when Captain Barbosa gets killed.  I guess that is boys for you.

No we are not in New York City
We all loved the mini golf - it was probably one of the best courses we have played on.  There were lots of different rhymes at the start of each hole to get you motivated and the holes has the Statue of Liberty,  golden gate bridge, windmills of Holland and the Swiss Alps.  It was lots of fun, although we did mind the heat.  It was sweltering and the two cold bottles of water we purchased afterwards really hit the spot!

We had so much fun at the park, after supper we decided to pitch a tent in the campground next door.  This allowed the kids a chance to play for the remainder of the evening and we didn't have to worry about where we were travelling to and where we would be staying for the night.  They each had a turn in the batting cages and it took a little bit before they got the hang of it, but they all said how much fun it was.

It is now 10:00 at night - the kids are asleep, there are no bugs outside and we are sitting outside writing our blog enjoying the stars and the sounds of the campground.

We think we will be heading to Idaho tomorrow - but then again we said that yesterday and we are still here.  That has been one of the best parts of this trip if we get somewhere and we are having fun there is no rush to travel further.  Today was a perfect example of that.  We know that we need to be in Wisconsin around the first of August but from now to then we will just do what seems like fun and the day at Cherry Hill was lots of fun.

From what we experienced thus far, Utah seems to be a great State. I think we will return sometime and spend a little more time here. In particular, after a discussion we had with a worker today, we will need to visit Southern Utah where the scenery (apparently) is out of this world.

Until tomorrow
Tanya
